Several options for reaching Granada are described below.


By plane to Granada

Granada has its own airport – “Federico Garcia Lorca Granada-Jaén (GRX)".

The airport serves mainly Spanish domestic destinations, with most frequent connections with Barcelona and Madrid.

From Granada airport to Granada:

After arrival of each plane, there is a bus connection to the city centre (journey time ~45 minutes, cost ~3 EUR). Taxi fares from the Airport to the city centre are around 30-35 EUR.


By plane to Malaga

The closest international airport to Granada is Malaga – Costa del Sol Airport.

The airport serves numerous international destinations and is 125 km away from Granada (90 minutes by car).

From Malaga airport to Granada:

There are two options using public bus:

  • Several times per day, there is a direct bus from Malaga airport to Granada and vice versa. The journey time is 2 hours and 15 minutes and the cost is around 15 EUR.
  • Take a bus from the airport to Malaga bus station (the buses run every 30 minutes, cost is ~3 EUR), and from there take an ALSA bus to Granada. These connections are frequent from 7:00 to 21:30, the journey time is between 1.5-2 hours and the cost is around 15 EUR.

In both cases, the arrival is to Granada bus station.

By bus

Granada is well connected by bus to the main Spanish and some European cities.

The bus service is provided by the company ALSA; the list of destinations and detailed timetables can be found here.

From the bus station, take the bus (No. 33 or 21) or tram to the city centre.


By train

Granada is connected to main Spanish cities by train.
